Requirements
This website should behave correctly with any modern web browser. It requires the following technical capabilities:
  • Javascript MUST be enabled. Version 1.3 or above is expected, but earlier versions should work fine as well.
  • Cascading style sheets MUST be supported. CSS level 2 is expected.
  • A screen resolution of 800x600 in 256 colours is a strict minimum. A resolution of at least 1024x768 is expected.

Any modern browser on a modern GUI will support those functionalities.

Alert: scripting is not enabled on your browser!

  • If scripting is disabled for your browser, we recommend that you enable it. It is reasonably safe and practically every web site requires it.
    • To enable scripting on Microsoft Internet Explorer, go to tools->internet options, "security" tab, select "specify level", then under "script" check "Active scripting" as "active".
    • To enable scripting on Mozilla, go to edit->preferences, then advanced->scripts & plugins, and check "Enable Javascript for "->"Navigator".
    • For any other browser, please refer to the manual.
  • If your browser does not support scripting, we strongly recommend that you upgrade your browser. Our recommended option is Mozilla. It is available on practically every mainstream platform including Windows, Linux and Mac OS X, and it is free.
Test platforms
This site was systematically tested on Mozilla 1.7.5 and Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 both on Windows XP. As it uses no version-specific features it should be fairly compatible with earlier versions and variants of these browsers, like Firefox or Netscape Navigator.

The site was also tested on Linux (Mandrake 9.2 on Kernel 2.4.22). Mozilla 1.4 and Galeon 1.3.7 work fine (except for fancy TTF fonts that render as "normal" fonts). The site does NOT work on Konqueror 3.1.4 (KDE 3.1.4) because it does not render animated GIFs correctly and its CSS support is too limited.

The site works on Safari for Mac OS X, except for animated GIFs that are not animated, and some CSS rendering anomalies that don't seem to cause serious disruptions.

There is no guarantee this website will render correctly on other engines (e.g. Opera). You are welcome to feedback your experience with other rendering engines to the webmaster.

We recommend browsing with Mozilla or Firefox.

Specific remarks
The design of this site tries to avoid dependencies on the browser type by keeping to the standards in HTML, CSS and Javascript. However, browsers are sometimes quite liberal when implementing the standards (especially MSIE). Some limited optimizations have been used to improve this compatibility. It has been implemented as not to get in the way of more standard-compliant browsers.
